Thank you for checking out my site…Welcome to my journey of living a healthy lifestyle; I am over 40 and fittest I’ve ever been…why the change? Because I could only lay around, eat fast food and drink for so long and before I knew it I had a WTF moment on how I got there.

For the longest time I was a 90lb weakling (a nickname I had when I was teenager)…I remember going to the Drs. and asking help me gain weight he was um no, in a few years you’ll be back asking me to lose.  It wasn’t until I moved out on my own and met my husband I started to put on the pounds…we ate a fair bit of take out and drank on weekends…I was addicted to A&W (I almost cried when A&W closed in our town), McDonald’s and Pepsi…

I’ve had knee troubles since I was a kid (dislocated knee caps – A LOT); Both knees have been operated on but still have the occasional setback. I still workout but just wrap them with tensor or a my hinged velcro wrap when needed.

Christmas 2003 I had a stomach infection where the Dr. had to do emergency surgery cause I had very little pulse and couldn’t breath…in order to get the stomach issue sorted they cut from top to bottom and tried to save my belly button…I now have a messed up looking  stomach…it has a bump on the right side that just pops out almost like a point…not attractive in the least.

Ever since then I’ve lost my flattish belly to a freak show belly; oh the stares and the questions I used to get were ridiculous; are you pregnant (from EVERYONE coworkers, family and strangers), the what’s going on down there? finger pointing to my belly; how can you do sports with that (on and on).

The deal breaker for me was in April 2014 when Brian and I were in the Dominican (I had already started to make changes, I was feeling better in my clothes and about myself s (I knew I was still heavy) and then got asked if I was pregnant (even with drinks in my hands) and then someone else did the belly rub with the awe; made me think of the clip from the movie Wedding Daze…that was it.

When we got back I started working even harder on my wellness doing Shaun T’s Rockin Body & Shakeology and a walking challenge at work.  I still get the occasional stares…part of it is the oh she works out and still has a belly…tisk tisk…but I just accept the belly (not thrilled about it by any means…but better than the alternative of dying that night).  I workout for myself not to be skinny, just to be healthiest version of me…

I want t0 be able to take the stairs, go for walks, kayaking and cycling and more…also working on my flexibility because as we age we need to stay as flexible as we can or else we lose it and become seized up and very immobile…um NO THANKS…

I am by no means perfect I still drink wine, and my nutrition isn’t 100% but that’s just the way it is and I am OK with it; it is a daily struggle; there is lots of temptation out there just have to know your limits and not go overboard all the time.

Since starting my journey I’ve lost around 17.8″, 30lbs & 8% body fat. I Gained strength inside and out. Remember health is a journey not a destination.

For fun I like the outdoors, traveling (Caribbean & Europe), photography (Nikon D90), bird watching, crafts (I heat press, and have a Cameo Silhouette and Cricut)…
